Welcome Back!

 

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  Please bring Outdoor Education snacks and drinks to Mrs. Grimm's room by next Friday, September 4th.  To date, only 11 students have brought in these needed supplies.  If you have any questions or concers, please fell free to contact me.

 

8/19/09  We had a great first day of school!  All classes reviewed the class syllabus and expectations.  Students first homework assignment is to return the signed syllabus to class by Monday, August 24.  If you click the link below, you can access my class syllabus for both 6th & 7th grade.

8/20/09  All classes completed journal writing and a student survey.  Students then presented information from their survey to the entire class.  Reminder all signed syllabi are due by Monday, August 24th for my class. 

 

8/21/09  This school year is off to a great start!  All classes completed a think, pair, share activity to construct a class list of what a "good" student does to be successful at school.  Your student's list can be seen at wordle.net by searching for your student's class.  For example, Mrs. Grimm's 6C Class.  Then student's completed the Wordly Wise assessment to determine which vocabulary workbook they will be working from this year.  Please remember Monday is the last day to turn in a signed syllabus for credit.  Have a wonderful weekend! 

 

8/24/09  All classes completed a think, pair, share activity to construct a class list of what a "good" teacher does to be successful.  Students were given their Wordly Wise vocabulary books and must complete 1A for homework tonight.  Students also began writing their personal biopoem in class.

8/25/09  Classes worked on editing sentences today.  Students continued to write their biopoems and will be displaying them in the classroom in a unique and creative way!  Students worked on Wordly Wise 1B but it must be completed for homework.  Literature books were assigned to each student in class.

8/26/09  Students solved word analogies today and started Wordly Wise 1D in class.  Students also had time to work on biopoems.  Please remember Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests will be taken on Friday.

8/27/09  Students worked on journal writing today.  Classes then worked in small groups to complete Wordly Wise 1C.  Students then presented their biopoem to the entire class.  Remember Wordly Wise tests will be taken tomorrow during class.

8/28/09  Students explored right brained versus left brained.  All classes took both the spelling and vocabulary Wordly Wise tests today as well. Please remember assessment days are next Monday and Tuesday, thanks.

 

HOMEWORK:  Please remind your student to read daily as they are required to earn 75 Reading Counts points per trimester.   Enjoy your weekend!

9/02/09  Students worked with word analogies and continued to work on the first District Writing Assessment.  6th grade students are writing a personal narrative and 7th grade students are writing a cause and effect essay.   

 

NO HOMEWORK but all Bell Work will be collected in class this Friday!

 

9/03/09  Students completed a grammar assessment and attended the first of four library orientations.  Each student should now have an independent reading book.  Please encourage your student to read daily.

 

HOMEWORK:  All Bell Work will be collected in class tomorrow! 

 

9/04/09  Students worked on editing sentences today and completed the District Writing Assessment.  The first set of Bell Work was collected today.

9/08/09  6th grade classes set goals for Outdorr Ed and talked about perserving the High Peaks Camp and its enviroment.  All 6th grade classes worked together to accomplish various teambuilding activities throughout the day.  We are all excited but prepared for our Outdoor Education adventure! 

 

9/09/09 - 9/11/09  We will be at the High Peaks Camp for Outdoor Education.

9/14/09  Students worked on journal writing in class and shared their entry with a classmate.  All classes went to the library for our second orientation class and to check out books.  Students started taking Reading Counts tests today as well. 

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise Chapter 2 A & B and tests will be given on Thursday. 

 

9/15/09  Students worked on editing sentences today and earned our official laptop license through our training session with Ms. Espino.  YES!  We are now able to use the laptops in the classroom.  Students also learned to identify complete subjects and complete predicates in sentences. 

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise Chapter 2 D and tests will be given on Thursday.  6GT & 6C needs to complete Chapter 1 - Exercise 1 from the Language book.

 

9/16/09  Students word with word analogies today and reviewed complete subjects and complete predicates.  Students also worked in groups to complete Wordly Wise C.

9/17/09  Students read a Time article and wrote a reader's response to it that they shared in small groups.  Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests were taken.  6th grade completed exercises 2 & 3 in the Language book and 7th grade read the Wordly Wise non-fiction story and wrote a summary.

 

Homework:  If language exercises (6th) or summary (7th) was not completed in class, it is homework.  Enjoy your three day weekend!

 

9/21/09  Students worked on journal writing today and read a short story from their literature book. 

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 3A and tests will be given this Friday. 

 

9/22/09  Students applied their knowledge about complete predicates and complete subjects to their own writing today.  Classes visited the library today for our third orientation class. 

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 3B and tests will be given this Friday.  Also, students need to log into Scholarsmart and review their class grades.

 

9/23/09  Students read a Time magazine article and wrote a reader's response to it.  Students also worked in small groups to complete Wordly Wise 3 C.  

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 3 D and tests will be given this Friday.   

 

9/24/09  Students worked on solving word analogies, visited the library to check out books and take Reading Counts quizzes, reviewed writing assessment, and started a verb phrase assignment.

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 3 Review Worksheet, study for Wordly Wise tests, complete Lesson 4 from chapter 1 in Language Book.

 

9/25/09  Students worked on correcting daily oral language today.  We reviewed compound subjects and verbs and learned how to label sentences.  Students also took both the Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests.  

 

Homework:  Language lessons 5 & 6 if not completed in class. 

 

9/28/09  Students worked on solving word analogies and ever created their own analogy today.  We completed a language lesson on subjects in unusual order.  Each class started to read a short story from the literature book and the story will be completed in class tomorrow.

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 4A

Upcoming Dates:  Thursday is the Language Chapter 1 Unit Test, Friday all Bell Work will be collected, and Friday Wordly Wise 4 Spelling & Vocab tests will be given.

 

9/29/09  Students completed a reader's response log based on the short story we read in class.  Each class started lessons 8 & 10 from the Language Network book but these assignments must be completed for homework.  Students worked in small groups to finish their specific novel jobs based on the short story we read. 

 

Homework:  (due Thursday) Wordly Wise 4 B&D, Language Lessons 8 & 10, Language test is on Thursday and Wordly Wise tests are on Friday.  Also, Wordly Wise book money is due this Friday.

 

9/30/09  Students will have a substitute as I will be at a training session at the ESC.  Students will complete a journal writing assignment, work in small groups to complete Wordly Wise 4 C, and begin working on a grammar lesson.

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 4 B&D, Language Lessons 8 & 10, finish grammar worksheet if not completed in class, and study for upcoming tests.  Remember Wordly Wise $ is due this Friday!

 

10/01/09  Students learned how to identify direct and indirect objects in a sentence.  Each class took the Chapter 1 test from the Language Network book and discussed their novel jobs in their small groups. 

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 4 Review sheet, complete noun & pronoun pre-assessments if not finished in class, study for Wordly Wise tests, and have ALL Bell Work organized and ready to turn in for grading. 

 

10/02/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response to it and then turned in all Bell Work for grading.  Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests were taken and students worked on a possessive noun activity.   

 

Homework:  Complete Language Network Lesson #3 from chapter 2 if not finshed in class.  Bring Wordly wise book money if you are purchasing a book.

 

10/05/09  Students wrote about and discussed their opinions regarding banned books.   All classes visited the libray for the final orientation class and worked on a noun activity in the Language Network book.

 

Homework:  Complete Language Network lesson #4 from chapter 2  and lesson 1a & 1b from chapter 3 if not completed in class, bring $10 for Wordly Wise book, 6GT & 6C turn in signed permission slip for literature circles.  Remember no Worldy Wise assignments this week. 

 

10/06/09  6th grade students read "President Cleveland, Where Are You?" and worked on a sequencing of events activity and a plot activity based on the story.  7th grade read "The War of the Wall" and worked on cause and effect and conflict worksheet based on the story. 

 

Homework:  Students need to complete short story and worksheet if not compelted in class. 

 

10/07/09  Students worked on journal writing, reviewed grammar assignment, and discussed short story activities from yesterday. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C students need to turn in literature circle permission slips tomorrow if they have not already done so.  Students who requested to purchase a Wordly Wise book must turn $10 in by Monday unless they have already paid. 

 

10/08/09  Students read the article "Wellness" and wrote a reader's response which they discussed in small groups.  Each class then worked on revising a written draft in class and started a sentence variety activity. 

 

Homework:  Complete revision activity and sentence variety sheet if not completed in class. 

 

10/12/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response which they discussed in small groups.  Each class learned how to identify subject pronouns and object pronouns.  Classes also reviewed the assignments from last week on revision and sentence variety.

 

Homework:  Complete Wordly Wise 5A and complete subject pronoun activity (page 57) and object pronoun activity (page 59) if not completed in class.   

 

10/13/09  Students worked on revising and editing sentences.  Students started creating flip books with literary terms and examples which will be a reference for students as we read our novels. 

 

Homework:  Complete Wordly Wise 5B and study for nouns test.  Remember Wordly Wise tests will be given in class on Friday.

 

10/14/09  Students worked with word analogies today and learned how to identify possessive pronouns.  Students also worked in small groups to complete Wordly Wise 5C.  The noun test will be taken tomorrow as we ran out of class time today.

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 5D, complete flip book if not done in class, be ready for noun test on Thursday and Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests on Friday. 

 

10/15/09  Students read and article and wrote a reader's response to it.  Each class shared and discussed their literary term flip books.  Students then took a nouns test and worked on  lesson 5 from chapter 3 in the Language Network book.

 

Homework:  Wordly Wise 5 Review Sheet, study for Wordly Wise tests, and complete language lesson 5 from chapter 3 in the Language Network book.

 

10/16/09  Students wrote a prediction for their class novel and discussed as a whole class.  Students took Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests as well.  Students in 6YS and 7YS received their first novel tie packet and students in 6GT and 6C developed their reading schedule for literature circles. 

 

Homework:  Complete any missing assignments by Monday.  Classes will visit the library on Monday.  

 

10/19/09  6th grade students wrote in their journals and 7th grade students completed a patriotism activity for Bell Work today.  All classes went to the library to check out books and take Reading counts quizzes.  Students received their novel projects assignments which are due on November 12,  6GT & 6C worked in their literature circle to confirm reading schedule and assign novel jobs.  6YS & 7YS started to read their class novel and work on the novel enrichment packet.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 6A, read their literature circle assigned reading, and complete novel job based on reading.  6YS needs to read pages 5 to 17 in Julie of the Wolves and work on enrichment packet for Wednesday.  7YS needs to read chapter 1 - 5 in Nothing but the Truth and complete the enrichment novel packet by Wednesday.  6YS & 7YS will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday based on the words in their novel enrichment packets. 

 

10/20/09  Happy National Day of Writing!  In class today, students explored what life would be like without writing.  We did a think, pair, share activity which allowed students to formulate their thoughts regarding writing and then share then in both a small group and whole class setting.  

 

Homework:   6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 6B, read their literature circle assigned reading, and complete novel job based on reading.  6YS needs to read pages 5 to 17 in Julie of the Wolves and work on enrichment packet for Wednesday.  7YS needs to read chapter 1 - 5 in Nothing but the Truth and complete the enrichment novel packet by Wednesday.  6YS & 7YS will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday based on the words in their novel enrichment packets.   

 

10/21/09  Students worked with word analogies and finished presenting their group work from our class work yesterday on the importnace of writing.  All bell work will be collected this Friday for grading. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 6C&D, read their literature circle assigned reading, complete novel job based on reading, and write a paragraph on why writing is important.  6YS needs to read pages 17 to 37 in Julie of the Wolves and work on enrichment packet for Friday and write a paragraph on why writing is important.  7YS needs to write a paragraph on why writing is important.  6YS & 7YS will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday based on the words in their novel enrichment packets.   6C & 6GT will take Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday.

 

10/22/09  Students worked on editing sentences today.  6C & 6GT worked with their literature circles to discuss their novels and novel jobs.  6YS & 7YS read and discussed their class novels.  Please remember all Scholastic orders are due tomorrow and Bell Work will be collected for grading.

 

Homework:  6C needs to continue reading literature circle book, work on novel job, write a paragraph on why writing is important, and complete the Wordly Wise review sheet.  6GT needs to continue reading literature circle book, work on novel job, and complete Wordly Wise review sheet.  6YS needs to continue working on Julie of the Wolves novel ties.  7YS needs to finish working on Nothing but the Truth novel ties for chapters 6 - 9.  All classes need to study for Friday's spelling and vocabulary tests. 

 

10/23/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response which they shared in small groups.  All classes took spelling and vocabulary tests.  6C & 6GT continued to work in their literature circles and 6YS & 7YS continued to read and discuss their classroom novels. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C Students need to continue reading literature circle books and complete novel jobs based on daily readings.  6YS needs to complete the novel ties for part 1 of Julie of the Wolves.  All students need to decide what novel project they will complete.  Please keep in mind these projects are due on November 12.

 

10/26/09  Students worked on journal writing, worked on pronoun problems, and continued reading and discussing their novels. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 7A and continue reading their literature circle novel and complete the novel job.  6YS needs to complete the novel tie for Part I, pages 37 to 70 from Julie of the Wolves.  7YS need to complete the novel tie for Chapters 10 & 11.  All classes will take a spelling and vocabulary test this Friday.

 

10/27/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response which they shared in small groups.  Classes worked on pronoun problems and peer revision of the constructed response they wrote last week on why writing is important.  Classes received and reviewed the novel project rubrics.  Students are responsible for keeping these rubrics and will turn them in with the finished project which is due on November 12. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to complete WW 7B and read literature circle books and complete novel jobs.  6YS needs to complete the vocabulary portion of Part II from Julie of the Wolves.  7YS needs to complete the chapter 12 novel tie by Thursday.  All classes need to finish the pronoun problem activity from the Language Network book.  It is on page 76 in the 6th grade book and page 80 in the 7th grade book. All classes will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday.   Novel projects are due on November 12.

 

10/28/09  All students worked on word analogies, selected their novel project, and reviewed homework.  6GT & 6C completed wordly Wise 7C in small groups and then discussed work as a whole class.  6YS & 7YS continued to read and discuss their class novel.

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 7D, read literature circle books, and complete novel jobs.  6YS need to finish reading Part II of Julie of the Wolves and complete the novel packet by Friday.  7YS needs to finish reading chapter 12 from Nothing but the Truth and complete the novel packet by Friday.  All classes will take spelling and vocabulary tests on Friday.  Please note that novel projects are due on November 12, and the last day to take Reading Counts quizzes is November 13.

 

10/29/09 SNOW DAY!!!!

 

10/30/09  Students worked on editing sentences today, took spelling and vocabulary tests, and read a Trick - r- Treat article and completed a creative writing assignment.  6YS & 7YS students discussed their class novels and 6GT & 6C students discussed their literature circle novels.

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to continue reading novels and completing novel jobs.  6YS & 7YS have no homework over the weekend.  Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

 

11/2/09  Students worked on journal writing, visited the library to check out books and take Reading Counts quizzes, and read and discussed their class novels and/or literature circle books. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT students need to complete Worldy Wise 8A and read literature circle book while completing novel jobs.  7YS & 6YS need to complete the vocabulary sections in their novel ties.  All students need to continue working on their novel projects which are due November 12.

 

11/3/09  Students read an article, wrote a reader's response, and then discussed it as a whole class.  6C & 6GT discussed their literature circle novels and novel jobs within their literature circles today.  6YS & 7YS continued to read and discuss their class novels.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 8B, read literature circle book, and complete novel job.  7YS needs to finsih reading chapters 13 & 14 and complete the novel tie for these chapters.  6YS will need to continue reading Part 3 in Julie of the Wolves while completing novel tie.  All classes will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday and all novel projects are due on November 12.  The last day to take a Reading Counts quiz for the 1st trimester will be November 13.

 

11/4/09  Students word with word analogies today.  6C & 6GT completed Wordly Wise 8C in small groups.  6YS & 7YS discussed their novel ties in small groups.  All classes completed a project update.  All bell work will be collected this Friday.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 8D, read literature circle book, and complete novel job.  7YS needs to finish the vocabulary section for chapter15.  6YS will need to continue reading Part 3 in Julie of the Wolves while completing novel tie.  All classes will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday and all novel projects are due on November 12.  The last day to take a Reading Counts quiz for the 1st trimester will be November 13.

 

11/5/09  Students worked on editing sentences, completed a simile & metaphor group activity, and worked on reading and discussing their novels either as a whole class or in literature circles. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 8 Review Worksheet, read literature circle book, and complete novel job.  7YS needs to finish the novel tie for chapter 15.  6YS will need to continue reading Part 3 in Julie of the Wolves while completing novel tie.  All classes will take spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday and all novel projects are due on November 12.  The last day to take a Reading Counts quiz for the 1st trimester will be November 13.

 

11/6/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response to it which they shared in small groups.  Students turned in bell work from the last two weeks to be graded.  Students also took spelling and vocabulary tests along with a verb preassessment.  6C & 6GT worked with their literature circles while 6YS & 7YS read and discussed their class novel as a whole class.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete read literature circle book, and complete novel job.  7YS needs to finish the novel tie for chapter 16.  .  All novel projects are due on November 12 and please keep in mind NO LATE projects will be accepted.  The last day to take a Reading Counts quiz for the 1st trimester will be November 13.

 

11/9/09  All classes worked on journal writing and applying new vocabulary words learned through Wordly Wise to the writing.  We discussed novel projects and answered and questions needed.  6GT students continued to revise their paragraph writing based on comments made from both peer and personal revision.  6YS discussed Julie of the Wolves in small groups.  7YS continued to read Nothing but the Truth and began the novel packet for chapters 17 - 19.  6C began the peer editing process with their paragraph writing. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete read literature circle book, and complete novel job.  Also, the final copy of their paragraph on "Why Writing is Importnant" is due by end of class Tuesday for both 6C 7 6 GT classes. 7YS needs to finish the novel tie for chapters 17 - 19.  All novel projects are due on November 12 and please keep in mind NO LATE projects will be accepted.  The last day to take a Reading Counts quiz for the 1st trimester will be November 13.

 

11/10/09 Students read an article, wrote a reader's response, and discussed it.  Classes went to the library to check out books and take Reading Counts tests.  6GT & 6C finished their literature circles and discussions.  6YS completed the literary terms activity.  7YS completed reading and discussing Nothing but the Truth. 

 

Homework:  All classes MUST turn in novel projects on Thursday - no late projects will be accepted.  Also, Friday is the last day to take a Reading Counts test for the first trimester.

11/12/09  Students worked with word analogies today and began presenting their novel projects. 

 

Homework:  Read...tomorrow is the last day to take Reading Counts tests for the first trimester! 

 

11/13/09  Students worked on editing sentences and continued to present novel projects.

11/16/09  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response to it which was then discussed.  Classes visited the library to check out books, take Reading Counts tests, and work on a character biography.  Prizes were given to students who met or exceeded their Reading Counts goal of 75 points.  We worked on verbs and started lessons 1 & 2 in class.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 9A and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 6A.  If verbs activities were not completed in class, they are homework. 

 

11/17/09  Students wrote reflections about the 1st trimester and set goals for the 2nd trimester, reviewed verbs,  and started the District Common Assessment. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 9B and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 6B. 

 

11/18/09  Students worked on solving word analogies and even created their own!  Classes worked in small groups to complete Wordly Wise C and also continued working on verb lessons.

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 9D and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 6D.  If the verb lessons 3 and 4 were not completed in class, they are homework. 

 

11/19/09  Students worked on editing sentences and completed an irregular verb activity.  Students continued to work on the District Common Assessment.  

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 9 Review  and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 6 Review.  If the verb lesson 5 was not completed in class, it is homework. 

 

11/20/09  Students read an article and worked on writing a compare and contrast paragraph based on the information provided in the reading.  Classes continue to complete verb lessons and activities.  All students took Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests.  

 

Homework:  Verb Lessons 6 & 7 if not completed in class.  READ, READ, READ!!!! 

 

11/23/09  Students completed a writing activity on thankfulness and shared with a peer.  All Bell Work was collected for grading.  Students reviewed verb lessons 6 & 7 from Friday and completed lessons 8 & 9 in class today.  Students then applied verb tense and parts of speech knowledge to complete Wacky Web Tales.  The students did a great job of creating some comical stories to share! 

 

Homework:  Eat TOO much, enjoy spending time with your family, and read, read, read!  Happy Thanksgiving!

 

11/30  Students completed a freewrite activity which they shared in small groups.  Classes took an adjective and adverb pre-assessment, visited the library to check out books and take Reading Counts tests, and completed a KWL worksheet on A Christmas Carol. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 10 A and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 7 A.  Spelling and vocabulary tests will be given this Friday.  Every student should be reading independently for about 30 minutes at least 5 days a week. 

 

12/01  Students read an article, wrote a reader's response to it, and discussed as a class.  Classes discussed what a drama is and completed a venn diagram between drama characteristics and novel characteristics. 

 

Homework:  6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 10 B and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 7 B.  Spelling and vocabulary tests will be given this Friday.  Every student should be reading independently for about 30 minutes at least 5 days a week

 

12/02  Students worked on solving and creating word analogies.  Classes worked in small groups to complete Wordly Wise C.  Students began lesson 1 on adjectives from the language book.  6C & 6GT classes recieved a writing assignment that is due on 12/18.

 

Homework:   6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 10 D and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 7 D.   ^ GT also needs to complete Wordly Wise 10C and lesson 1 on adjectives in their language book. Spelling and vocabulary tests will be given this Friday.  Every student should be reading independently for about 30 minutes at least 5 days a week.  6C & 6GT students need to have their writing assignment completed and turned in by 12/18. 

 

12/03 Students worked on editing sentences and we started reading the play A Christmas Carol.  6YS & 7YS completed a vocabulary activity using the vocabulary from the play. 

 

Homework:   6GT & 6C need to complete Wordly Wise 10 Review Worksheet and 6YS & 7YS need to complete Wordly Wise 7 Review Worksheet.  Spelling and vocabulary tests will be given tomorrow.  Every student should be reading independently for about 30 minutes at least 5 days a week.  6C & 6GT students need to have their writing assignment completed and turned in by 12/18.

 

12/04  Students answered questions based on Act 1, Scene 1 of A Christmas Carol, took both Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests, learned how to identify predicate adjectives, and read a non fiction passage from their Wordly Wise book and completed a graphic organizer selecting the main idea and supporting details of the passage.

 

Homework:  If not finished in class, students need to complete lesson 2A from chapter 5 in the Language book and the main idea graphic organizer.  6C & 6GT students need to study and be prepared for the Wordly Wise midtern on Tuesday.  The weekend is a great time to read, read, read! 

 

12/07  Assessment day

 

12/08  Students read an article and wrote a reader's response which they discussed in small groups.  All classes learned how to identify when nouns and pronouns are being used as adjectives.  6C & 6GT took the Wordly Wise mid term exam.  6YS & 7YS continued to read the play, A Christmas Carol. 

 

Homework:  6C & 6GT need to complete Wordly Wise 11A and 6 & 7YS need to complete Worldy Wise 8A.  All classes need to complete lesson 3A from chapter 5 in the Language Network book.  Each student needs to use the information on the graphic organizer and write one paragraph which includes the main idea and supporting details - this assignment is due Thursday.  All students will take Wordly Wise spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday.
